All commercial applicators are licensed through the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Cowboy Lawn and Sprinkler LLC and its employees and agents are properly licensed and trained in the use, handling and application of pesticides. We only use pesticide products that are federally approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and Colorado Department of Agriculture for safe use and permitted by federal, state and municipal laws. We follow prescribed methods for mixing and use found on the label for all pesticides. Cowboy Lawn and Sprinkler LLC follows IPM (Integrated Pest Management) protocols, which involve following cultural and lawn care practices in partnership with the property owner that promote healthy turf to reduce or minimize pest populations. Pesticides are used sparingly and only when necessary to control pests. Complete elimination of pests is not guaranteed or desirable to promote a healthy lawn and ecosystem. Further, we primarily use pesticides that are post emergent, meaning they control weeds that have germinated or insects that have hatched. Pre-emergent control of pests/weeds is discouraged and not guaranteed. Proper notification of any application will be provided prior to service. Detailed records will be kept for all chemical applications and are available for review upon request by property owner or government agency.
Seeding services include our Triple Play, Power Seeding and Top Dressing with reseeding
Seeding services can be done anytime of year we are open however for best results we recommend completing these services in August and September. The other window of opportunity for best results is mid April through May.
Aeration packages include:
Aeration only or single service option – No other services are added to this service. It can be completed with our deep core aeration machine or a chemical application that leaves no plugs or cores on your lawn. We complete the aeration as a single pass service. A double pass aeration can be added for an additional charge.
Double Play – This service includes our single pass deep core aeration and our premium organic based seasonal fertilizer. Our fertilizer is applied at a rate of 0.85-1.1lb of nitrogen per 1000 square feet of lawn area.
Triple Play – This service includes our single pass deep core aeration, premium organic based season fertilizer and a light over seed. Our fertilizer is applied at a rate of 0.85-1.1lb of nitrogen per 1000 square feet of lawn area. This over seed is applied at 1lb of seed per 1000 square feet of lawn area. This service is not meant to fix bare or thinning areas. It is best for established lawns that need to maintain a thick healthy appearance. The seed we use us typically a general mix of Rye and Kentucky Blue seeds but can change depending on market availability.
Power Seeding – This is a reseeding service for whole lawn areas. We include a double pass deep core aeration, starter fertilizer and up to 3lbs of seed applied per 1000 square feet of lawn. This service will help reestablish your lawn and fix bare or thinning areas. Customer is advised on recommended watering practices after we complete this service. Keeping the seed damp for 5-7 days will help the seed germinate quickly. Watering intermittently or saturating areas during germination will cause the seed to germinate at a lower rate. The key is to keep the ground damp for 24 hours a day 5-7 days and then once the seed shows signs of germinating to cut back watering to 2 times daily for another 5-7 days. Once the seed has grown to a 4inch height and can be mowed, watering can be cut back to once a day or every other day until the area gets to a desired thickness.
When we use the deep core aeration machine for any of our aeration packages or services we do not remove or pick up the cores left in the lawn area. It is recommended to let the cores or plugs decompose on their own and return to your soil.
Our aeration machines need to have a clear path to all lawn areas and require a minimum of 28 inches width to pass through gates, walks, ramps and access ways. Our machines also cannot traverse stairs. A graded slop no greater than 22 degrees is allowed. If a group of large landings are available to step up our entire aeration machine from one to another is available we can move our aeration machine up and down that way. In other words if you can step up/down your lawn mower to each landing/step typically we can do the same with our aeration machine. WE DO NOT LIFT OUR MACHINES NOR DO WE PROVIDE RAMPS TO MOVE OVER STEPS.
All lawn areas need to be clear of all items including dog waste or poop, toys, furniture and other movable landscape features or items. We do not move items from lawn area. We also do not move trampolines, small pools, furnishings, and downed tree limbs. We will service around them if you are not able to move them prior to our arrival. If a yard has excessive dog waste in the yard or in the access path to the lawn we may skip the area and reschedule service. A rescheduling fee will be added to complete the service.
We do not mark sprinkler head or other damageable items in a lawn. Customer is responsible to mark all sprinkler heads, shallow lines or areas where a core aeration machine is not requested. We are not responsible for any damage that occurs during the aeration service due to our machines being used normally over your lawn area and accessing your lawn areas. We will help repair any damage we caused if we damaged a clearly marked sprinkler head. Clearly marked includes placing a marking flag no smaller than 3 inches by 3 inches directly next to the sprinkler head. We are not responsible for any damage caused to shallow or unseen lines (sprinkler, dog fence, utility etc) marked or unmarked in any serviced lawn area or access path.
Sprinkler Maintenance and Repair: Sprinkler services include the following services and warranties
Sprinkler Activation is completed in spring between April – May.
Systems will be turned on, pressurized and adjusted. Backflow / Vacuum Breakers (PVB) are not tested or repaired by Cowboy Lawn and Sprinkler LLC. Automatic timers will be set to spring season needs. Each zone will receive a time limit based on the sprinkler heads GPM ratings as to receive on average 1/2 inch of water 2-3 times a week. During water restrictions we will set the timer accordingly. Sprinkler activation services are limited to our full season lawn care customers only. Sprinkler activation does not include any repairs.
Sprinkler repair is limited to basic sprinkler repairs including: head replacement, visible line breaks in accessible areas, basic valve repair or replacement and timer upgrades. We do not troubleshoot low pressure or electrical issues. We also do not repair or replace backflow devices or copper pipes.
We offer 2 different sprinkler turn off or blowout services. Both services are completed in October. Occasionally we will work until the first week of November however we do not work past the 2nd freeze in the month or if generally we are seeing ice buildup in lines or at heads. We use commercial air compressors that are high volume low pressure to safely remove water from your lines.
Cowboy Lawn and Sprinkler LLC gives no warranty or guarantee that any line will not freeze or cause damage.
“Express” Blowout Only – This sprinkler blowout service is our cheaper express option. We do not enter your property to turn off the water supply or use your timer box to control each zone. We do need access to your in ground sprinkler valves located typically in green boxes by your lawn areas. We connect to your outside access point (typically next to your backflow preventative device) and remove all the water from that access point to each of your accessible sprinkler heads. If there is a visible outside drain next to our connection point we will open the drain and leave it partially open. We also will partially open/close your backflow preventative device for the winter. We do not drain the water remaining on the inside of the house or water left between our connection point and the sprinkler supply valve. You do not need to be home for service to be completed. Not all systems qualify for this service. We do not blowout systems with gravity backflow preventative devices. This services does not include a scheduled appointment. You can choose the week to complete this service and we will schedule the service based on location in our service route. We will notify you what day we scheduled your service on typically the Sunday starting that week. We will also notify you the day prior to service if we plan to complete service in the AM or PM the next day.
Full Sprinkler Winterization – This service includes us turning off the water supply to the sprinkler, using your timer controller to blowout each zone, draining any water left in the inside lines and scheduling a 3 hour appointment window for service. We do not blowout systems with gravity backflow preventative
